WNBA Finals: Game 7 Is Coming

Not yet: Atlanta forces the first Game 7 in Finals history
The Golden State Valkyries were one win from a championship in only their second season. The Atlanta Dream had other plans. Atlanta won Game 6 80-69 at home, tying the series 3-3.
Now the WNBA gets something it has never had before: a Game 7 in the Finals. Neither team has ever won a title. One of them will on Saturday night.
Atlanta won it in the first quarter
The game was over almost before the lunch crowd sat down. Game 6 tipped off at 12:30 p.m. because of a scheduling conflict at State Farm Arena, and the Dream came out red hot. They hit 6 of their first 8 three-pointers, went on a 13-0 run, and led 32-15 after one quarter.
The lead hit 20 by halftime and 25 in the third quarter. Golden State shot just 31% from the field and couldn’t climb out of the hole. Gabby Williams kept the Valkyries alive with 26 points, including 10 straight in the fourth, but the closest they got late was 11.
“Championship mentality,” Angel Reese said afterward. “We just wanted to get this one.”
Top performers
Allisha Gray was nearly perfect from deep, making 5 of 7 threes. Reese did a bit of everything, putting up 15 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists.

Game 7: Saturday night in San Francisco
The deciding game is Saturday, October 31, at 8 p.m. ET at Chase Center. It’s the first Game 7 since the WNBA Finals went to a best-of-seven format in 2025.
Golden State gets home court, and that matters. The Valkyries won Game 5 at home 64-55. But Atlanta already stole one in San Francisco, winning Game 2 79-65. Whoever wins becomes a first-time champion: Atlanta after years of waiting, or Golden State in only its second season of existence.
Your call
One game. One first-time champion. So tell me in the comments: does the expansion team finish the fairy tale, or does Atlanta complete the comeback?
